IMPORTANT NOTE:
Avoid brining kosher or self-basting birds, as they've already been treated with salt. It's best to brine only fresh turkeys. Brining a frozen turkey isn't recommended because they are often pre-injected with a sodium solution. However, some organic frozen turkeys contain a lower sodium concentration and could be an exception. Generally, for the best results, opt to brine turkeys that are fresh, not frozen.
